[this topic was purposly meant to be questioned in the poll section, but because I no longer have subscription, I might as well take it up here in journal and receive your opinions from here]

Peace be to you all boys and girls!

As you all may have noticed, we're still alive, there were no doomsday as some people proclaimed, so we're all good. For me personally, I never believed in doomsday since from day 1. I guess you can say that I'm more a faithful person who puts her trust in God and not some people who claim things, and then earning money out of it. What's most strange though according to the articles I read from newspaper is that the Mayan people themselves never actually believed in the idea of the world coming to an end, only that their calender stops in 2012. They were even asked why people outside the world panicks about it. Like for instance the people who fled to France to hide in mountains, because they assumed that it is the "safest place" in case of any natural distasters or in this case, the destruction of the world . So I thought "hm strange, then how come people outside, even those who call themselves believers in God, are sticking to this "idea" when the Mayan people themselves never actually believed in it?". Perhaps there were something that I missed, or maybe the reports are not relieable, so this is what I want to ask you people, about how you feel about this whole thing, and whats your opinion about people making claims of such events. And also, do you tend to believe when someone tells you there's gonna be a Doomsday in such and such day, what's your thought on that?

And yes, this is probably off topic, but I just received this wonderful, WONDERFUL gift from a very good friend. You guys HAVE to check her work !

I knew that the 2012 apocalypse thing was just superstitious nonsense and I was correct.

I never actually believed that the world would have doomsday, I thought " why would God destroy what he had created? And since when mayans can communicate with the Gods ?"So I have no reason to believe in such things ( I'm christian fyi) :3

 The whole "End of the World" thing was nothing but a bunch of crap to begin with. I never believe in that sort of poo (for an alternative placement for s***) and I still don't. Like you said in your journal, even the Mayans didn't believe in doomsday.

For me, the "End of the World" idea is nothing but media hype for people to be stupid enough (no offence) to believe this crap and still get money for it, if a type of media is related to doomsday. Those bastards.

The doomsday stuff is always a real load. Everytime. Without fail. Oh well. We're all still alive, which is what counts.

Unless... We're all really dead... And we're just all ghosts or something

we have been predicting doomsday since day 1, its impossible

Doomsayers have already predicted the next doomsday happening in 2013, a massive solar flare like what happened in the 1850s, no one died in that solar flare.....

And arent the Aruora Borealis (Northern Lights) Solar wind/flares?

Doomsday is just a trick to scare people to buy stuff

Btw i found from a source that may or may not be true, but the Mayan Calander does not account for leap years, so Doomsday was suppost to be 8 months ago LOL

Well, I'm here. XD That whole apocalypse thing was pretty silly, I thought. Especially the people who believed in it enough to get apocalypse insurance. I mean...yeah, you'll get money back if the world ends, but the world has ended. Even if you're still alive, money will have no meaning. Ridiculous.

All of those doomsday thingies are just laughable. I would been surprised that there's people that actually believe in those things but then I remembered the fact that masses are dumb and also some people around the world (if not an important number of them. I'm just being nice), so yeah.

In my case, is mostly an amusement to see the reactions of that people. I don't know if that matters, but I'm mexican and I was seriously all "WTF?" for all that mayan thing because *WEEE, CULTURAL PARENTHESES* those calendars served on the past cultures of the Mesoamerican region of my country for ritual purposes and announcement of when an era was beggining or ending and things like that, and didn't serve as means to 'know' when the world ends. *END OF PARENTHESES*

In that case, there's only two explanations for that: or the mayans just didn't finish it because of the Spanish Conquest Campaign, or they were just lazy XD

My opinion on the whole thing is that people is too gullible these days. like come on guys God said that no man knows the day nor the hour when Jesus will come or (the world going to end). but that's from biblical reference. i knew the world wasn't going to end but i thought something really terrible was going to happen. Come on guys they broadcasting everything and making such a big deal out of it so most likely they was going to do some real shit to scare people. like that shooting in Connecticut, yea that was the big event even though it wasn't on the end of the world day but it was on 12/12/12........ it's in plain writing. But this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Have something to say to my comment, i won't mind if u want to talk about it. But i'm just saying guys people need to open their eyes and see the real threat.

Well you see, it's actually the 21st through the 23rd so wait til Christmas Eve to say it. lol

Also, it wasn't the Mayans that predicted the end. People just say it was because their calendar ended on the 21st. (And it's true, the calendar did end… for the 13th time)

I mean, I can't say I BELIEVED the world was going to end. But I can't say I believed it WASN'T. I believed I didn't know because the world could end at anytime and that time could have very well been on the 21st. But it didn't. There will be more in the future and you simply never know.

BUT the theories on the world ending that were made were by others. Scientists theorized that a space storm would pass and it's size would cause the earth to act unnatural in it's disasters for a great amount of years, more than a single human life time. Others said the sun would have a solar flare head our way SO huge that it would end "civilization as we know it" (meaning we wouldn't die but our power grids would go out permanently and we would be forced to start from the ground up again and cause riots and the lack of control due to no communication between authorities to control the situation)

The Mayans believed that we live in the fourth world. The gods created the world 3 times and failed but the fourth world was a success. When the calendar makes it's full run from beginning to end it's called a b'ak'tun, and it had it's 13th b'ak'tun before ending in the third world. Yesterday, we had our 13th b'ak'tun, but being the successful world, there's no way our world would end, especially not in only the length of time of the 3rd unsuccessful world.

People also decided to put things together, claim that all the unrelated theories had all these factors that were more than coincidence and freaked.

However, if you're faith is that of God and Jesus, then you should know the claims of this religion state both that we won't know when the end will be, that Jesus will return and live a full new life but even he doesn't know when his return will be that only God in his own form will know, AND that the "Rapture" occurs over the course of more than a single day as does the apocalypse.

Lastly, if you created a bunker, good luck surviving massive heat, flooding, lack of oxygen, lack of food and resources once they run out or Earthquakes. Cuz if you survive all those, let's see how long it takes before you can return to the surface if ever at all with all those nukes having been blown up by whatever disasters ambushed them (or even if the nukes WERE the disasters). Toxins will be all through the air, and there will be no place for shelter, no resources uncontaminated and no food source. Bunkers are useless except to prolong meeting your ultimate fate IF this happened.

Also, if you think fleeing to the mountain tops is safe from natural disasters, you forgot how volcanoes were formed. :3

That is my intellectual piece, :iconmissyuna:! ^.^

Oh. And yes, the concept that the MAYANS predicted this as the end was a rumor, a fabrication, for a movie AND, yes, to make money.

As we do not know the truth ourselves, it is potentially possible that believers of God can put their faith in him only to end up being wrong. But it doesn't mean that they can't put their faith in him, as if they ARE wrong, then they get the same results whether they believe in him or not. And in case he IS real and they're right, why take the risk by losing faith? Whether you're right or wrong, keep your faith. But whether you're right or wrong, keep your faith most definitely over someone who's using fear for money, whether THEY'RE right or wrong. :I

Peace to you too. ^-^

I don't know what to say about it. It's kind of like y2K ( If you don't know, here's a link to a summary of it: [link] Also, google people's responses to it). I don't understand why people would even care, probably because if you live in fear you're going to be afraid. All I have to say is that I like to make jokes about stuff like that but never do I take it seriously. It's fun to see people's reactions to it though.
Wonder how we're all gonna die next.

ok, let's explained, last year it came a movie called "2012" which was simply that the producers knew of the maya calendar and said "that day the world will end"
anyway, mayas actually said that that day we would come to a new era (i think they still failled thought...)

One funny thing is that I'm probably the only one who did not know the day of this "doomsday" :'D. I did hear all the rumors that the world will end on 2012, but I was never interested to look things into such topic. More like, I didn't have the time and motivation to do so lol.

From what I heard about the Mayans though, the whole "end of their calendar" was supposed to be meant as a new powerful leader will appear to start a new life cycle. I don't exactly remember since I heard this few months back lol :'D;;.

The reactions that people made are just a proof that the world is not educated enough and how there's no difference between humans and animals when it comes to life and death. With that idea, I think it's pretty normal.

It never was a Doomsday prophecy with the Mayans. All it meant was that the cycle starts over. Same as we turn the page on a calendar. The doomsday crap started when people were being idiot and didn't understand math. The reason people make a big deal about their predictions was that the Mayan's were amazing mathematicians. They predictions of solar eclipses and such are only off by about two or three hours.

We're all still here, yes.

To be honest, people who believe that, even if they believe in God and Jesus Christ, may have major, horribly major anxiety like me when they believe things like that. I was paranoid all of this year and sometime a year or two ago also when the movie 2012 came to theatres, truthfully, but was calm by the time the 20th and the 21st came thank goodness. Now what I'm more scared about is what I read in Revelations happening while I'm still alive... I don't know what I'll do if it does...

Anyway, have a nice day, Miss Yuna ^^

I did believe in it....for the first week the whole Doomsday thing started, then I realised how stupid I was being and smartened up a bit. Besides, I think the Mayan calendar has ended a few times before or something like that, or the world should have ended either 6 months ago or in (I think) a billion years. I never really believed in any sort of doomsday dates, and I probably never will.
